Rickie’s Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary

“Rickie’s Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary of South Florida, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit rescue organization formed in the State of Florida in 2017. Our mission is to take in parrots and birds that have been abused, neglected or who are simply losing their homes. We do not judge and know that sometimes life changes force you to give up the pets that you love. We screen all of our fosters as well as all of our potential adopters. We place our birds only in the most qualified, loving homes. Our mission also includes education. Owning a parrot is NOT easy. They are not like dogs. However, with the proper upbringing, knowledge and commitment, they can be loving, wonderful companions. Too many people think owning a parrot is “cool” without really doing the research. Please do the research before you decide you want to bring in these highly intelligent toddlers. They are wonderful and amazing…but they are as demanding as as a two your old child..and can throw temper tantrums like one too! So, please do your research before bringing a parrot into your home. It will require some changes in your every day living and when they are given up…they mourn as much as their owners.

We specialize in special needs parrots as well as hospice birds. We give breeders a place to bring these babies so they have a chance at living long happy lives rather than euthanizing because they are not profitable.  There is no need to give up on a parrot with special needs. Like humans, they learn to adapt…and they do live long happy lives.”

Hollydogs Greyhound Adoption

“Hollydogs Greyhound Adoption is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization created in 1995 to save retired racing greyhounds that otherwise would have been destroyed. We are located in South Florida. Our program rescues, treats, rehabilitates, socializes and trains these amazing dogs for their new life as loving family members. We do not euthanize any dog. We provide support for life to those families that open their hearts to a Greyhound.

Hollydogs educates the community about the availability of Greyhounds, their plight and their nature as well as promoting responsible dog ownership and the vital importance of spaying and neutering all pets. We are entirely supported by volunteers and donations.

We adopt dogs in the SE and SW Florida area.”

Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue

“On April 2, 2012, a group of seasoned rescuers united, in memory of an animal lover, Justin Bartlett, who tragically lost his life at a young age, and formed the Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue.

Through the knowledge base of these rescuers, their long volunteer “hands-on” hours, common sense and research driven processes, together they built the largest foster based rescue in the county, saving an average of a thousand animals each year, established a fleet of two adoption shuttles and a mobile unit, as well as launched them the county's first rescue magazine, "Rescue Tales."  Though time consuming and exhausting, there was still more work to be done.

Due to the dire need for low cost veterinary care in the community, on May 28, 2015, the Justin Bartlett Animal Hospital was founded! To date, the hospital has served over 25,000 patients, and performed over 8,000 spay/neuter surgeries, some on our mobile surgical unit, within specific economically disadvantaged areas, at no cost to the public.

Our Mission...
Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue’s Mission is to reduce the number of homeless dogs and cats from becoming victim to shelter euthanasia, while educating the public on the importance of adoption and spay and neuter in our community.  Our volunteer staff is dedicated to saving pregnant and nursing animals, as well as, orphaned puppies/kittens, and any unwanted animal, whether sick or healthy. If there is an open foster home and available funds we will ensure the animal receives it’s forever home. Every animal we rescue is placed in a foster home, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested, and provided any other necessary medical care. In addition, through our not-for- profit hospital, we will provide affordable veterinary care to the animals in our community.”
